Old barns could be a treasure trove of building materials. Though some of these materials might not be able to be used again, timber from old barns may be used for lots of projects which range from picture frames . Pieces of wood that are infested with beetles or termites might be present in an older barn, or the wood might not be powerful enough to support a load. It is, therefore, very important to know what to search for in reclaimed barnwood.
Examine the barnwood using the magnifying glass. Check for any harm, such as cracks or fractures in the wood.
Use the claw end of the hammer to get rid of any nails or staples in the wood. This allows you to safely use brushes and generators onto the wood surface. Use the broom to sweep any extra dirt or dust off the wood surface.
Add deck and water cleaner to the bucket according to the instructions on the deck cleaner container. Mix the cleanser with the head of this deck-cleaning brush.
Use the deck-cleaning brush to scrub the reclaimed barnwood. Scrub the barnwood along the grain to remove any mould or mildew stains and embedded dirt.
Use the power washer to scrub off the reclaimed barnwood. This will wash off the deck cleaner option and will mechanically remove dirt and mould in the wood surface.
Place the sawhorses from the sun at an interval which will allow you to place numerous pieces of barnwood between the sawhorses. Place the cleaned barnwood in order that each piece straddles both saw horses. Permit the wood to dry thoroughly.
