How to Strip Briwax Out Of Wood

Briwax is a trademarked product that is made from natural ingredients including both beeswax and carnauba wax. It is a paste product that is applied to wood furniture and cabinetry to disguise scratches and enhance the wood grain. To remove Briwax in the surface, you must dissolve the wax into a liquid state and then scrub it off. Although the approach isn’t complicated, it may take some work to get the wax out of the timber grain.

Put on disposable rubber gloves to protect your hands and open a bottle of mineral spirits. Pour the contents of this bottle into a bucket.

Dip a fine-grade steel wool mat into the mineral spirits. Scrub the surface with the mat, moving it at precisely the exact same way as the grain of the timber. Rinse the mat often from the bucket of mineral spirits and continue till you have covered the whole piece.

Add a white fabric into the bucket of mineral spirits till it’s saturated and then wring it out. Rub the timber using the rag to remove any extra traces of Briwax. Scrub the rag from the mineral spirits often, continuing until no longer residue comes off on the fabric.

Allow the wood to dry completely before applying new wax or refinishing it.
