How to Fix the Pull Rope to a Homelite Weed Trimmer

Put the pulley retaining bracket into place from the starter housing assembly; torque the pulley retaining bracket screws to 25 to 35 inch-pounds using a torque screwdriver and No. 25 star-head or flathead screwdriver bit.

Pull approximately ten inches of pull rope back through the starter assembly housing; form a loop using the rope and push the loop into the pulley shirt. Wind the pulley two to three full revolutions to tension the pulley spring and hold it in place to prevent the rewind spring in unwinding.

Pull the handle to pull the rope from the pulley and starter housing assembly. Release your hold on the pulley so the brand new rope rewinds into the starter housing assembly. Pull the starter pull rope in the starter housing several times, allowing it to rewind between pulls to test for proper starter pull rope surgery.

Position the starter housing onto the weed trimmer engine so it rests flush with the engine crankcase assembly.
